AMETEK Power Instruments, a $50M business unit in the AMETEK Power Systems & Instruments Division, provides high end, best in class electronic products such as fault recorders, annunciators, revenue meters, and turbine engine sensors to the power generation, transmission and distribution markets. We have locations in Rochester, NY, Wilmington, MA, Coral Springs, FL Reynosa, MX, Northern Ireland, and sales offices throughout the world.
We are seeking an ambitious and energetic Buyer for our Rochester, NY facility. This position is responsible for the procurement of quality goods and services in a cost effective and time efficient process.
Responsibilities:
· Performs material resource planning to determine current and future demands for materials.
· Prepares purchase orders based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids and other similar documents.
· Locate new/alternative sources for existing materials to maximize profit while improving supply.
· Maintain existing orders for goods and services.
· Take appropriate action based on review of MRP reports.
· Aware of market trends and current business conditions for competitive purchasing.
· Assist Sr. Buyer and Purchasing Manager in developing clear specifications and product needs.
Qualifications
· Bachelors degree in business or related field.
· 5+ years experience in purchasing, preferably within an electronics manufacturing facility required.
· Experience working in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma environment required.
· APICS certification preferred or working towards achieving.
· Demonstrated problem solving, decision making skills and ability to think/act independently.
